The Beloit College Buccaneers football team will play their first home game of the season this Saturday at 6 p.m. against the Carroll Pioneers. The game will be the first played on the recently renovated Karris Field at Strong Stadium, which features a turf surface with a Beloit “B” at centerfield. The new facilities will be used by the football, track and lacrosse teams here at Beloit. A new scoreboard was also installed and will be up and running for
the game.

A tailgate event for the campus community starts at 4 p.m. on one side of Strong Stadium. There will also be a tent for those who helped to fund the field renovation. President Scott Bierman will be giving a thank you speech to the donors who made the addition possible. Special programs commemorating the field will also be handed out to those in attendance. The construction crew will begin laying the track on Monday, with hopes
that it will be finished before the Homecoming game against Grinnell College on Oct. 1.

The Buccaneers are looking to rebound after losing their first two games of the season on the road. “We are really grateful for all the work that has gone into this wonderful facility,” said wide receiver Kenny Andejeski ‘12.

“We are really excited to share this night with the Beloit community.”
